The Directorate-General of Energy and Geology, in partnership with EDM – Empresa de Desenvolvimento Mineiro and more than three dozen other entities, is promoting, until 9 April, mining and geological heritage around the mainland and the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

The initiative, which forms part of the “Partners of the Mining Trail and Geological Points of Interest of Portugal Week”, aims at the scientific dissemination, associated with geology and mines, as well as the exploration of the potential of the territories where extractive activities occurred, thus providing the population with a varied and unprecedented range of experiences.

It includes special visits to different sites of geological and mining interest, museum reservations, as well as former Roman mines. The list also includes educational laboratories and other activities for younger visitors, film presentations and conferences.

The details of the programme will be made available by the organizers, and may be consulted at www.roteirodeminas.pt.
